Here is our Privacy Policy required by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999.

We collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications, tax organizers, worksheets and other documents;

  • Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates, or others;

  • Information we receive from a consumer-reporting agency.

We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our clients or former clients to anyone, except as permitted by law.

We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those members of our firm who need to know that information to provide services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information.
 
DISCLOSURE OF TAX INFORMATION.  Unless authorized by law, we cannot use, without Client's consent, Client's tax return information for purposes other than the preparation and filing of Client's tax return.  If we obtain Client's signature on any form by conditioning our services on Client's consent, the consent will not be valid, as Client's authorization is not mandatory. Client's consent is valid for the same time as the Federal statute of limitations for filing Client's return, including extensions (generally three years).
 
Client acknowledges that Acumen Accounting, Inc. is in the business of providing tax services beyond tax return preparation and tax representation, specifically year round consultation, tax planning and financial planning services as authorized by law.  Client hereby consents to the use of Client's tax information, at Client's request, for the purpose of making recommendations to Client including but not limited to the following:
  • Tax advice related to life events
  • Tax advice and planning related to investments and real estate
  • Tax advice and planning related to tax payments, income and pension distributions
  • Responding to any other tax and financial questions Client may have, either personal or business.
Having full knowledge of Client's rights in these matters, Client agrees that such services are an integral part of the total tax services for which Client has contracted with Acumen Accounting, Inc. to include receiving any newsletter or mailing provided by them. 
 
Client understands that no tax return information will be disclosed to any other person or for any other purpose not specifically allowed by law unless authorized by Client.
 
If you believe your tax return information has been disclosed or used improperly in a manner unauthorized by law or without your permission, you may contact the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) by telephone at 1-800-366-4484 or by e-mail at complaints@tigta.treas.gov
